Updating your registration online
A step-by-step guide
We have tried to make our online registration systems as straightforward as possible, but we understand that it can seem daunting at first. If you have never updated a registration online before, this guide is intended to help you through the process.
This guide is intended to be read as you go through the process, so you may want to print this page so you can refer to it as you go through the update process.
Before you start
During the update you will be required to upload any files that you wish to add to your registration. Ensure that you have a copy of the files on your computer before you start.. Also, if your work contains large files, you have a lot of files to upload or have a slow Internet connection, you should also read our upload information page for advice.

Common questions
- How much will the update cost?
The current charge for updates via our online upload facility is £23.75 per work.
You are also be able to order paper certificates at £2.50 each or sheets of registration labels at £2.50 each if required.
All charges are in UK Pounds Sterling (GBP). All charges include VAT.
- Do I upload the entire work again, or just the new/changed files?
This will depend on how the changed files affect the work as a whole. Normally, it is only necessary to upload files that have changed, or new files, but if it is a major change that affects the structure of the work, it makes more sense to upload a fresh version of the whole work.
Examples:
A new chapter to a book (stored as a separate file), a new song on an album (or remix of existing song), etc. - You only need to upload the new files
A website/software change that affects multiple files and directories across the project - It is normally wisest to submit an entire new version of the work. - What is a ‘Schedule Of Revision’?
This is simply an extra document that accompanies the registration certificate and lists the dates, descriptions and reference numbers of all updates to the work.
- Is uploading secure?
Yes. When you upload your files, it is over a highly encrypted channel (https) that directly connects your computer to one of our servers. Our servers are self hosted, so we do not rely on any third party to store or transmit your personal data.
- Can I be sure my payment details are safe?
Yes. We communicate to our payment service provider over highly secure 256bit encrypted direct connections. We are PCI-DSS compliant and do not store your card details. Our payment service providers are regularly audited by Visa and MasterCard to ensure that their systems conform to the latest security standards.
- How long will it take to upload files?
This will mostly depend on your Internet connection. As a rule uploading files is much slower than downloading. For a typical broadband connection, uploads normally take around one minute per megabyte.
